Social Mobilization for the Management of Local Resources in Community Forestry

The Social Mobilization for the Management of Local Resources in Community Forestry Program is running in Rupendhehi District since 2005 with the help of Interim Forestry Project (previously with Livelihood and Forestry Program – LFP/DFID). The program is running in 50 CFUGs and 2 public lands to manage the local resources for the benefit of poor and socially excluded users.

This program is facilitating the FUGs and VFCCs (village forest coordination committees) for effective organizational management, social inclusion, community empowerment, equitable benefit sharing, support for sustainable forest management, formulation of Climate Change Adaptation Community Plan and coordination with government and non government service providers.

The objective of this program is to organize and empower all the users including poor and excluded households and individuals of FUGs for increasing access to assets and services, voice to influence in decision making and improve internal governance.
