Essential Health Project (EHP)

The Essential Health Project (EHP) is one of the programs run by Indreni Rural Development Centre Nepal (IRDC) Nepal, aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of communities in Nepal. The program focuses on providing essential health services to underprivileged and marginalized communities, especially women and children.

The EHP program works on various components of healthcare delivery, including:

  1. Health education and awareness: IRDC conducts health education and awareness campaigns to promote healthy behaviors and practices, such as hygiene, sanitation, and nutrition. This helps in preventing diseases and improving overall health outcomes.

  2. Maternal and child health: The program provides maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, safe delivery, postnatal care, and immunization. This helps in reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity.

  3. Primary healthcare services: IRDC provides primary healthcare services, including diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, such as fever, diarrhea, and respiratory infections. This helps in improving access to healthcare services, especially in remote and underserved areas.

  4. Reproductive health services: The program provides reproductive health services, including family planning, contraception, and sexual and reproductive health education. This helps in empowering women and promoting gender equality.

  5. Capacity building: IRDC conducts training programs for healthcare providers and community health workers to improve their skills and knowledge in providing healthcare services.

Overall, the EHP program aims to improve the health and wellbeing of communities, especially women and children, in Nepal. The program adopts a community-based approach, working closely with local communities and organizations to ensure that the services provided are culturally appropriate and responsive to local needs.
